Most leaders now have to make decisions about AI. Teams want to use it, vendors pitch it and regulators expect organisations to understand it. This course gives you enough working knowledge to ask the right questions, judge risk and lead your people through the change. You won’t learn to code. You will learn how AI tools produce their answers, where they go wrong, how to spot sensible uses in your own area, and how to decide how much human checking each use needs

  • Give you a practical method for questioning AI outputs and vendor claims before you act on them. 
  • Prepare you to lead your team through AI adoption with clear rules and open communication. 
  • Help you turn what you learn into a working plan for your own team.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  1. Explain in plain English how generative AI produces its outputs and why those outputs can be confidently wrong. 
  2. Identify at least three suitable AI uses in your own area and rank them by value and feasibility. 
  3. Assess the risks of a proposed AI use, including bias, data protection and accountability, and give it a risk rating you can justify.
  4. Evaluate vendor claims and AI outputs using the five-question check, including what an accuracy figure means in errors per month.
  5. Select the right level of human review for an AI use based on its risk.
  6. Communicate clear AI rules and expectations to your team, and respond to their concerns.
  7. Produce a 90-day AI action plan with named owners and measures of success.
